Heritage, Houses and Gardens

*A visit to Exeter Cathedral could perhaps be combined with a *Red Coat Guided Walking Tour to bring the history of this magnificent city to life.

The history of Muchelney Abbey, located in the Somerset Levels, dates from the Middle Ages.

There are many National Trust properties in the South West including A La Ronde, Killerton, Knightshayes Court, Montecute House and Lytes Cary Manor (some gardens open all or most of the year).

* An historic house with beautiful gardens can be found at Forde Abbey.

‘East Devon’s Secret Garden’ is how Burrow Farm Gardens, only a short distance from here, is very accurately described.

*The grounds at Hestercombe near Taunton allow dogs.

*RHS Rosemoor - a ‘must’ for keen gardeners.

* Further afield the Lost Gardens of Heligan were restored from a tangle of weeds over the last 25 years and now offer 200 acres of garden history, mystery and romance (dogs welcome).

Those marked with a * are open most of the year, please check opening times
